The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Advancement Officer to lead our advancement effort in the strategic development and execution of our ambitious advancement mandate. This position will report to the Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer and will be responsible for developing, leading, and implementing bespoke, ambitious, sustainable, long-term private funding strategies with the goal of diversifying our donor base and building ongoing donor engagement and commitment to the Institute.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have a direct impact on our organization and ultimately on Canada's ability to advance diversity in the sciences and bring together the world's most brilliant minds to achieve scientific breakthroughs that will change the world. As a trusted advisor and partner to the Board, our Director, and the Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer, you will deepen internal coordination and capacity to deliver at the highest levels.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop and implement long-term private funding strategies to diversify our donor base and build ongoing donor engagement and commitment.
  2. Lead and manage a team of advancement professionals to achieve strategic goals and objectives.
  3. Build and maintain strong relationships with donors, stakeholders, and partners to advance our mission and goals.
  4. Provide strategic advice and guidance to the Board, our Director, and the Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer on advancement matters.
  5. Deepen internal coordination and capacity to deliver at the highest levels.

Requirements

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced professional with a strong track record of success in advancement, fundraising, and leadership. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the non-profit sector and a proven ability to develop and implement effective fundraising strategies. They will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with donors, stakeholders, and partners.
