Position Overview: The Compliance Implementation Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring that all construction operations align with environmental regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Regulatory Compliance: Oversee that all construction processes throughout the subway project meet federal, provincial, and municipal environmental laws, including necessary permits and approvals.
  2. Environmental Assessment: Evaluate and monitor environmental conditions during construction, focusing on air, water, and soil quality.
  3. Site Evaluations: Perform regular and thorough inspections of construction sites to identify potential environmental risks, particularly in relation to watercourses, erosion control, spill management, and dust suppression.
  4. Communication of Findings: Share inspection results, compliance recommendations, and necessary actions with project managers, contractors, and stakeholders, providing expert advice on environmental matters.
  5. Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with environmental consultants, community organizations, and stakeholders to discuss environmental strategies and address any concerns.
  6. Compliance Documentation: Assist the Environmental Team in preparing detailed compliance reports for regulatory bodies, project managers, and stakeholders.
  7. Training and Support: Offer training and guidance to project teams and contractors on environmental regulations and best practices.
  8. Sustainability Efforts: Promote sustainability initiatives within the project, focusing on waste reduction, energy efficiency, and biodiversity conservation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Certification as a Canadian Certified Inspector of Sediment and Erosion Control (CAN-CISEC).
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental compliance, particularly in infrastructure projects.
  • Comprehensive understanding of environmental regulations and permitting processes at all levels.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing environmental management systems.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and attention to detail, with proficiency in interpreting complex environmental data.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective reporting and stakeholder interaction.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, capable of managing multiple priorities.
  • Proficient in environmental monitoring tools and software.
