POSITION OVERVIEW
Under the guidance of the Associate Vice President, BC Builds, the Director of Provincial Partnerships in Housing Development plays a crucial role in advocating for BC Builds' mission to foster the establishment of new rental and ownership housing solutions for middle-income families. This position engages with developers, industry stakeholders, housing organizations, and government representatives throughout the province to facilitate the advancement of a diverse range of project proposals.
The Director leads a team of skilled professionals, orchestrates the submission of project proposals to various decision-making bodies, assesses and endorses final project designs, construction specifications, financial estimates, and timelines, ensuring the effective execution of projects. This role also identifies partnership opportunities involving privately owned properties and navigates complex negotiations to secure municipal approvals for rezoning and subdivision.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- A Bachelor's degree in urban land economics, business management, real estate development, or a related discipline.
- Significant project management experience in the development of multi-unit residential and mixed-use projects within the non-profit and private sectors.
- Alternatively, a combination of education, training, and experience deemed acceptable by the Employer.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- In-depth knowledge of rental, ownership, and housing program implementation, along with project planning, development, and construction of multi-unit residential housing.
- Strong consultative, facilitation, consensus-building, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills.
- Proficient in financial analysis, planning, monitoring, and reporting.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to analyze complex data and information to identify risks, develop solutions, and prepare reports for executive review.
- Capability to understand and align with BC Builds' and BC Housing's objectives, programs, and policies.
- Innovative mindset in delivering rental, ownership, and housing initiatives that align with BC Builds' mission.
- Ability to establish strong relationships with senior management, government officials, industry partners, and other stakeholders.
- Judgment in presenting issues and providing leadership and direction to facilitate effective actions.
- Competence in developing and analyzing capital and operating budgets for multi-unit residential projects.
- Skill in motivating and guiding team members in a collaborative environment.
- Adept at managing multiple projects and adapting to changing priorities.
- Effective communication with housing sector participants, construction industry professionals, and government agencies.
- Strong analytical and decision-making capabilities.
- A Criminal Record Check is required.
