We are seeking an experienced and skilled Commercial Oncology Business Unit Leader to join our team at Takeda Pharmaceuticals. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for driving the commercial strategy and operations for our Oncology Business Unit.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership
- Establish a clear vision and strategy for the team, aligned with the company's overall goals and objectives.
- Embed and role model Takeda's values, setting the tone for a positive and inclusive team culture.
- Foster open communication, encourage feedback, and lead by example.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to direct reports and talent, promoting development and succession planning.
- Define, communicate, and measure performance goals and standards, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Drive talent acquisition and establish Takeda as an employer of choice within the oncology industry.
- Strategy and Planning
- Support the development of organizational strategy, ensuring the needs of the local Oncology Business Unit are represented and addressed.
- Take full accountability for strategic decisions, collaborating closely with the leadership team to ensure alignment and effective execution.
- Lead the development and communication of local oncology strategy, working closely with commercial, medical, and pricing and market access teams.
- Drive the implementation of the strategy, incorporating Patient-Trust-Reputation-Business (PTRB) principles.
- Ensure resource allocation is aligned with strategic focus areas, enabling impactful execution.
- Manage the company's risk profile, identifying and mitigating risks that may impact Takeda.
- Ensure ethics and compliance are embedded at all levels and activities within the Oncology Business Unit.
- Establish a financial plan for the entire Oncology Business Unit, in alignment with overall financial planning processes.
- Excellence in Execution
- Drive operational excellence for the Oncology Business Unit, owning the full P&L and setting budget, targets, and performance metrics.
- Lead the development of access strategy, including pricing and commercial schemes, to optimize P&L.
- Ensure implementation and regular follow-up of cross-functional plans, such as key account management.
- Drive accountability of sales directors, establishing standards and KPIs, defining metrics, and tracking progress and achievement.
- Provide strategic guidance to the Oncology Medical Director, overseeing medical activities and implementation.
- Ensure execution of lifecycle management and evidence generation to support local data needs.
- Promote a culture of learning and sharing/benchmarking with oncology colleagues and across the organization, advancing excellence in execution.
- Customer and Stakeholder Relations
- Set the external stakeholder relationship strategy, working with relevant internal teams to drive communication and interactions.
- Maintain relationships with key customers, KOLs, scientific societies, payers, industry associations, and PAG representatives.
- Ensure the team demonstrates patient and customer-centricity, defined as listening to and meeting their needs, and providing innovative solutions.
- Participate in key customer congresses and events for the latest research updates, interactions with KOLs/HCPs, and demonstrate Takeda's presence in the field.
Requirements
- University degree and/or other (as locally defined)
- Experience in leading cross-functional teams at local or regional level, managing and developing people managers
- Proficiency in Key Account Management (KAM) model
- Experience in managing a P&L or a large budget and sales
- Demonstrated experience in developing value-adding 'win-win' solutions with external stakeholders
- Launch experience from a similar environment
Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of local oncology market, business model, and local legislation
- Deep understanding of healthcare and reimbursement systems, as well as treatment pathways
- Therapy and product area knowledge, as well as clinical data understanding
