About the Role:

As a Compliance Summer Analyst, you will engage in meaningful projects that foster collaboration with industry experts across various sectors. This position is essential for supporting the tax compliance efforts of our principal Canadian entity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Canadian Tax Manager to ensure accurate tax compliance.
  • Prepare and review tax provisions and Canadian tax returns (T2), including related forms (T106, T1134, NR4, etc.).
  • Conduct journal entries for book-to-tax adjustments, tax payments, and refunds.
  • Analyze balance sheet accounts and apply relevant accounting standards.
  • Contribute to the consolidated tax provision by evaluating components that influence tax expenses and accounts.
  • Assist in tax audits by preparing necessary analyses and summaries for government reviews.
  • Monitor tax filings and ensure tax assessments are properly recorded.
  • Stay informed on changes in tax laws and regulations affecting the organization.
  • Conduct research on various projects and uncertain tax positions, providing insights on non-recurring transactions and applicable tax treatments.
  • Participate in internal technical knowledge sessions on accounting and tax topics.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3-4 years of experience in corporate taxation and tax accounting.
  • Possession of an accounting designation is preferred.
  • A Master’s degree in taxation or a specialized taxation course from CICA is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Oracle and HFM is a plus.
  • Bilingual proficiency in French and English is required.
