Canadian Tax Compliance Analyst

Overview of the Position
We are seeking a skilled Tax Analyst to contribute to our dynamic Tax team, engaging in stimulating projects that foster professional growth and collaboration with specialists across various sectors. Our team comprises experts in US, Canadian, and International tax, all reporting to the Vice-President of Tax.
Key Responsibilities:
Reporting directly to the Canadian Tax Manager, the Tax Analyst will serve as a crucial business partner responsible for the tax compliance of our primary Canadian entity, a publicly traded company. The ideal candidate will be results-driven, adaptable, and flexible in various situations, working within a vibrant team environment while ensuring compliance for assigned entities.
The candidate will be expected to:
- Prepare or review tax provisions.
- Complete Canadian tax returns (T2) along with necessary forms (T106, T1134, NR4, etc.).
- Create journal entries related to book-to-tax adjustments, tax payments, and refunds.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of balance sheet account continuities and relevant accounting standards.
- Participate in the consolidated tax provision by analyzing components that impact tax expenses and accounts to provide comprehensive visibility.
- Assist the team during corporate tax audits by preparing required analyses for government reviews and summarizing audit impacts.
- Oversee tax filings for the companies, ensuring tax assessments are thoroughly analyzed and recorded.
- Stay informed on changes in applicable tax laws and regulations affecting CAE entities.
- Conduct research and analysis on various files, special projects, and uncertain tax positions, presenting non-recurring transactions and explaining applicable tax treatments to mitigate risks.
- Engage in and contribute to internal technical knowledge sessions on various accounting and tax topics.
Qualifications:
- A University Degree in Accounting is required.
- A minimum of 3-4 years of experience in corporate taxation and tax accounting is essential.
- An accounting designation is preferred.
- A Master's degree in taxation or a specialized taxation course from the CICA is an asset.
- Familiarity with Oracle and HFM is advantageous.
- Bilingual proficiency in French and English is required.
