Requirements for the Truck Driver Position at XPO

Essential Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Possess a valid Class 1 or Class A CDL with appropriate airbrake/manual transmission endorsements as required by jurisdiction
  • Demonstrated safe driving history

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience operating forklifts
  • Certification for handling hazardous materials
  • Additional airbrake/manual transmission endorsements for other jurisdictions

Overview of the Truck Driver Role

Compensation and Benefits:

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate a tractor-trailer combination, including doubles and triples
  • Deliver exceptional service to clients, including generating sales leads
  • Handle loading and unloading of freight
  • Conduct vehicle inspections as mandated by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (if applicable)

Physical Requirements for Truck Drivers:

  • Ability to lift items of various shapes, sizes, and weights (frequently up to 50 lbs. and occasionally over 75 lbs.); maneuver a converter dolly averaging 128 lbs.
  • Safely enter and exit a tractor cab/trailer
  • Endure extended periods of sitting in a truck tractor and/or on a forklift; proficiently operate heavy machinery and forklifts
  • Stand and walk for prolonged durations on uneven or slippery surfaces (including outdoor work in various weather conditions)
  • Perform physical activities such as reaching, bending, climbing, pushing, pulling, twisting, squatting, and kneeling
  • Operate a tractor-trailer combination for up to 11 consecutive hours in diverse weather conditions while safely transporting materials
