What you need to excel as a Truck Driver at XPO

Minimum qualifications:

  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Valid Class 1 or Class A CDL with necessary airbrake/manual transmission endorsements as required by each province
  • Clean driving record and history

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience operating forklifts
  • Certification for handling hazardous materials
  • Additional airbrake/manual transmission endorsements for other provinces

Daily responsibilities include:

  • Safely driving a tractor-trailer combination, including doubles and triples
  • Delivering exceptional service to customers, including generating sales leads
  • Loading and unloading freight
  • Conducting vehicle inspections as mandated by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (if crossing into the U.S.)

Truck Drivers are expected to:

  • Lift items of various shapes, sizes, and weights (frequently up to 50 lbs. and occasionally more than 75 lbs.); maneuver a converter dolly with an average weight/pull force of approximately 128 lbs
  • Safely enter and exit a tractor cab/trailer
  • Remain seated for extended periods in a truck tractor and/or on a forklift; operate heavy machinery and a forklift safely
  • Walk and stand for prolonged periods on diverse surfaces that may be uneven or slippery (including outdoor work in adverse weather conditions)
  • Reach (including overhead), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat, and kneel
  • Operate a tractor-trailer combination for up to 11 consecutive hours, in all weather conditions, while safely transporting hazardous/non-hazardous materials
