| Role Summary
As part of the Internal Audit team, reporting to the Manager of Payment Operations Audit, the Internal Audit Specialist will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and maintaining a robust internal audit framework for payment operations at Payments Canada. This position involves supporting the audit portfolio's development and aligning with the long-term strategic objectives of the Internal Audit function. The Specialist will provide advisory services to business partners, focusing on control design, implementation, and maturity assessments. Additionally, this role will assist in executing internal audits and facilitating external audits while cultivating strong relationships with key stakeholders, including management, audit service providers, regulators, and subject matter experts.
| Key Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Internal Audit Specialist include:
- Audit Methodology and Maturity Assessment: Formulate and execute a payment operations audit strategy that aligns with industry standards, enhance maturity assessment processes, and deliver training initiatives related to payment operations audits.
- Audit Planning and Execution: Gain a comprehensive understanding of business risks and processes, plan and carry out audits within the defined scope and budget, identify emerging risks, ensure thorough documentation, assess internal control frameworks, and produce high-quality audit reports for senior management.
- Audit Findings and Reporting: Ensure clarity and conciseness in audit findings, identify root causes, communicate opportunities for efficiency enhancements, monitor the progress of audit findings, and support process evaluations and maturity assessments.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Influence stakeholders to secure buy-in, resolve conflicts, maintain effective communication, and develop essential relationships with data stewards, technology teams, payment product teams, regulators, and third-party service providers.
- Support and Coordination: Offer guidance and support to fellow audit staff and coordinate with relevant teams.
| Required Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline;
- Willingness to pursue or currently pursuing an audit designation is advantageous;
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in executing internal audit programs, conducting external audits, or performing risk assessments;
- Proven relationship management skills with the ability to influence effectively;
- Eligibility for Government of Canada Level II Secret Clearance.
| Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with payment systems is a plus;
- Familiarity with maturity models (e.g., CMMI, CMMC, PCMM) is beneficial.
| Compensation
- Salary based on qualifications and experience: $78,031 to $97,539.
