Job Title: Bar Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Bar Manager to join our team at the Highwayman Pub in South Surrey. As a Bar Manager, you will be responsible for the overall food and beverage service operations of the pub, ensuring that our customers receive exceptional service and a memorable experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the bar and restaurant operations, including staff supervision, inventory management, and customer service.
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase sales and revenue, while maintaining high standards of quality and presentation.
  • Recruit, train, and schedule staff to ensure adequate coverage and excellent customer service.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, liquor licensing laws, and company policies.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager to achieve business objectives and improve operational efficiency.
  • Manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reports to ensure accurate financial management.
  • Develop and maintain a positive and engaged working environment, promoting teamwork, respect, and excellence.
  • Conduct performance management, coaching, and counseling to ensure optimum performance and employee development.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, resolving issues promptly and professionally.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years' experience as a bartender and/or Restaurant Assistant Manager.
  • Inter-Provincial trade qualification (Journeyman / Red Seal) and/or diploma/certificate from a recognized culinary school an asset.
  • Must have all valid certificates needed to operate a bar and Serving it Right.
  • Ability to accurately estimate labor and beverage costs is an asset.
  • Ability to define problems, to collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as financial and other reports and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively and ensure compliance with standards, rules, and regulations.
  • Computer literate in systems related to the restaurant industry as well as Microsoft office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
  • Ability to inspire and engage a team with proven leadership techniques.
  • Ability to take direction, offer direction and to work in a team environment.
  • Must have superior organization, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Ability to delegate and supervise a variety of team members to consistently produce results.
  • Thorough knowledge of purchasing and maintaining a proper inventory.
  • Ability to negotiate with various vendors to attain the best costing is an asset.
  • Must be able to work weekends, evenings, and holidays when the Pub is busiest.
  • First Aid is an asset.
  • Must be able to deal with reasonable work-related stress resulting from the need to manage within legislative, budgetary and time constraints on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to deal with issues arising from guest complaints (internal and external) in a timely manner using problem solving and de-escalation techniques.
