Position Overview

The Senior Manager of Technical Accounting is a crucial member of our finance team, responsible for providing expert technical accounting guidance to ensure adherence to IFRS standards. This role demands a comprehensive understanding of intricate accounting challenges, regulatory mandates, and industry norms. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience managing technical accounting operations within a large, publicly traded organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the analysis, assessment, and execution of new accounting standards and pronouncements in accordance with IFRS.
  • Offer technical accounting support for complex transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, revenue recognition, leasing, and financial instruments.
  • Draft and review technical accounting memoranda and position papers to substantiate accounting decisions and ensure compliance with applicable standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, legal, and operations, to guarantee precise and timely financial reporting.
  • Develop and uphold accounting policies and procedures to ensure uniformity and compliance throughout the organization.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of quarterly and annual financial statements, including footnote disclosures and management discussion and analysis.
  • Engage with external auditors and regulatory bodies to resolve technical accounting matters and ensure successful audits and reviews.
  • Provide training and mentorship to finance team members on technical accounting topics and emerging issues.
  • Stay informed on industry advancements, regulatory updates, and best practices in technical accounting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; CPA designation is mandatory.
  • 8-10 years of relevant experience in technical accounting, with a minimum of 5 years in a public accounting firm.
  • Thorough knowledge of IFRS, with the capability to apply complex accounting principles to practical scenarios.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with effective communication skills for conveying technical accounting issues.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of producing clear and concise technical accounting documentation.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills, with a history of mentoring and developing accounting professionals.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, and familiarity with financial reporting software.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience in the technology sector.
  • Knowledge of SEC reporting requirements and SOX compliance.
