Position Summary

The Senior Manager of Technical Accounting is integral to our finance division, offering expert technical accounting guidance to ensure adherence to IFRS standards. This role demands a comprehensive understanding of intricate accounting matters, regulatory frameworks, and industry norms. The ideal candidate will possess a solid history of managing technical accounting operations within a large public company setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the research, assessment, and application of new accounting standards and regulations under IFRS.
  • Deliver technical accounting support for complex transactions, encompassing mergers and acquisitions, revenue recognition, leasing, and financial instruments.
  • Draft and evaluate technical accounting memoranda and position papers to substantiate accounting decisions and ensure compliance with applicable standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, legal, and operations, to guarantee precise and timely financial reporting.
  • Establish and uphold accounting policies and procedures to maintain consistency and compliance throughout the organization.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of quarterly and annual financial statements, including footnote disclosures and management discussion and analysis.
  • Engage with external auditors and regulatory bodies to resolve technical accounting challenges and ensure successful audits and reviews.
  • Provide training and mentorship to finance team members on technical accounting subjects and emerging trends.
  • Stay informed about industry advancements, regulatory updates, and best practices in technical accounting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; CPA designation is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 8-10 years of relevant experience in technical accounting, with at least 5 years in a public accounting environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of IFRS, with the capability to apply complex accounting principles to practical scenarios.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with effective communication skills for articulating technical accounting issues.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of producing clear and concise technical accounting documentation.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills, with a history of mentoring and developing accounting professionals.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and familiarity with financial reporting software.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience in the technology sector.
  • Knowledge of SEC reporting requirements and SOX compliance.
