The role of the Senior Manager of Technical Accounting is pivotal within the finance division at Telesat, a prominent global satellite operator renowned for its dependable communication solutions. This position necessitates a profound comprehension of intricate accounting challenges and industry standards in a publicly traded company environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the evaluation and execution of new accounting standards in accordance with IFRS.
  • Provide expert advice on complex transactions while ensuring compliance with applicable standards.
  • Draft technical accounting documentation and engage with cross-departmental teams.
  • Formulate accounting policies to ensure uniformity throughout the organization.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and liaise with auditors.
  • Guide and develop team members on technical accounting subjects.
  • Remain informed about industry trends and best practices.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, accompanied by a CPA designation.
  • 8-10 years of experience in technical accounting, including time spent in public accounting.
  • Proficient in IFRS with the capability to effectively apply accounting principles.
  • Excellent analytical and communication abilities.
  • Experience in leadership and team management.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office and financial reporting software.
  • Strong organizational capabilities in a dynamic work environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in a related discipline.
  • Experience within the technology sector.
  • Knowledge of SEC reporting and SOX compliance.
