We are seeking a skilled Community Outreach Worker to join our team at Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health. This is a permanent part-time position, working 45 hours biweekly.
The successful candidate will provide a range of clinical services, including screening, assessment, brief intervention, case management/navigation, individual and group treatment. They will work in both clinic and community settings, providing a wide range of services to support individuals and families affected by mental health and addiction issues.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in social work, with experience in mental health and addiction services. They will possess excellent assessment skills, the ability to implement evidence-based plans of care, and a working knowledge of the DSM. The successful candidate will also have experience in offering brief, supportive intervention strategies, navigating and de-escalating situations, and providing crisis support.
We are looking for a candidate who is knowledgeable about community resources and program development methods, and who can demonstrate a commitment to recovery-oriented practice and client-centered care. The successful candidate will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships.
The Community Outreach Worker will play a key role in navigation, advocacy, and the coordination of resources and services within Mental Health and Addictions and the community. They will work closely with colleagues, clients, and family members to provide support and connect individuals with the resources they need.

About YouWe are looking for a candidate who has:
- Bachelor of Social Work degree
- Registration or eligibility for registration with a professional regulatory body
- One year post-BSW clinical experience in mental health and addiction services
- Screening and risk assessment skills, including suicide risk assessment
- Experience in offering brief, supportive intervention strategies focusing on harm reduction and recovery
- Ability to navigate and de-escalate situations and offer crisis support
- Group facilitation skills
- Ability to use motivational interviewing skills and engage with clients/families
- Demonstrated knowledge of community resources and program development methods
- Demonstrated knowledge of recovery-oriented practice and client-centered care
- Knowledge of social determinants of health/social context and its importance to decision formulation
- Knowledge and experience with a trauma-informed care approach
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to make sound and reliable clinical decisions
