Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our team in the Inpatient Psychiatry Unit at Fraser Health. As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to patients with mental health issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct occupational therapy assessments, consultations, and interventions to maximize patient function and promote independence and safety.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to develop individual treatment goals and provide treatment and/or teaching to patients and caregivers.
  • Identify resources required for treatment, including tests, materials, equipment, and funding, and initiate requests for external funding as needed.
  • Facilitate group therapy processes using cognitive, behavioral, psycho-educational, problem-solving, and crisis intervention methods.
  • Prepare written assessments/reports, including recommendations, to facilitate patient success in rehabilitation.
  • Monitor and evaluate patient outcomes, and provide clinical expertise, consultation, and leadership in evidence-based occupational therapy practice.
  • Maintain client records, including documenting client assessments, preparing progress notes, and writing reports in accordance with established professional/organizational standards, policies, and procedures.
Requirements
  • Baccalaureate degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • One year's recent, related experience in a psychiatric setting or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Current full registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia (COTBC).
  • Eligible for membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists - BC (CAOT-BC).
