At Kina Gbezhgomi Child and Family Services, we are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Child & Youth Service Worker to join our team. As a key member of our Rapid Response Youth team, you will play a vital role in providing outreach-based intensive cultural supports to youth aged 9-18 years residing in the Districts of Sudbury and Manitoulin.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide cultural supports to youth in community settings and member communities within the Districts of Sudbury and Manitoulin.
  • Collaborate with the cultural team and traditional resources to preserve and promote traditional practices within member First Nations.
  • Support youth in strengthening their cultural identity and staying connected with their culture, language, and community.
  • Work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to meet the needs of the youth and community.
Requirements:
  • A Child and Youth Worker Diploma or a diploma/degree in a related field, combined with relevant experience.
  • At least two years of direct experience working with at-risk populations.
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to the life experiences and needs of the youth community.
  • Lived experiences as a First Nation community member in the First Nation/Urban community setting.
  • A Class 'G' Ontario Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • In-depth understanding of the child welfare system, history of colonization, and ongoing impacts of generational trauma.
  • Strategic thinking, organizing, planning, and analytical skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to new tasks.

Please note that occasional exposure to wood smoke and the burning of sacred medicines may occur within the work setting.
