About the Role

The Occupational Therapist operates under the guidance of the Manager, collaborating closely with clients, their families, and caregivers to enhance, restore, or maintain optimal functional abilities in self-care, productivity, and leisure activities. This role involves providing comprehensive consultation, assessment, treatment, evaluation, and follow-up services within various settings, including hospitals, clients' homes, and community environments.

The Occupational Therapist is responsible for developing personalized treatment plans and goals in partnership with clients, managing a diverse caseload, and utilizing clinical judgment to prioritize daily tasks effectively. Strong interpersonal and written communication skills are essential for this position, as the Occupational Therapist will also provide education and support to clients, families, and caregivers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver integrated care.
  • Supervise and mentor Occupational Therapy Assistants and students in clinical education.
  • Conduct assessments and develop individualized treatment strategies.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and adhere to ethical practices.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor of Science or equivalent degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Mandatory licensure with the provincial regulatory body.
  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS-C).
  • Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written, with a focus on educational program facilitation.
  • A commitment to fostering a respectful workplace culture that emphasizes safety and ethical practices.
  • The ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Flexibility to adapt to the evolving needs of the service.
  • Competence in additional languages is an asset, with French being preferred.

Work Schedule

  • This is a permanent full-time position, requiring 75 hours bi-weekly.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly wage for this position is competitive, and successful candidates may qualify for a comprehensive benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance, along with a defined benefit pension plan.
