Position Overview

The Occupational Therapist operates under the guidance of the department manager, collaborating closely with clients, their families, and caregivers to enhance, restore, or maintain optimal functioning in daily activities such as self-care, work, and leisure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, and provide therapeutic interventions in various settings including hospitals and community environments.
  • Manage a diverse caseload, utilizing clinical judgment to prioritize patient needs effectively.
  • Deliver education and support to clients and their families, fostering understanding and engagement in the therapeutic process.
  • Contribute to the training and development of Occupational Therapy students and supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor of Science or equivalent degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Current licensure with the provincial regulatory body is essential.
  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS-C) is required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to educate and engage effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Commitment to fostering a respectful and safe work environment, promoting ethical practices and cultural sensitivity.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Flexibility to adapt to the evolving needs of the service and patient population.
  • Proficiency in additional languages is an asset, with French being preferred.

Work Schedule

  • This is a permanent full-time position, requiring 75 hours of work bi-weekly.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly wage for this position is $42.90. Successful candidates may qualify for a comprehensive benefits package, which includes health and dental coverage, travel insurance, long-term disability, life insurance, and a defined benefit pension plan.
