About the Role

The General Repair Technician III is a key member of our facilities team, responsible for performing maintenance and repair services on non-technical facility components. This includes general handyman-type work such as walls, floors, and other non-technical components.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintains and repairs non-technical facility components in accordance with established processes and practices.
  • Performs work in accordance with established processes and practices, and complies with internal and external requirements including environmental, health and safety, and fire protection.
  • Monitors assigned facilities by conducting facility walkthroughs, facility non-technical component monitoring and inspection.
  • Responds to routine and on-demand service requests, and performs preventative maintenance and repair work to non-technical components within the facility.
  • Records resolution data within the service maintenance management database, and ensures work completed meets quality, contract response, and all other requirements.
  • Assists in the implementation of preventative maintenance (PM) programs, and ensures that deficiencies are identified, recorded, and escalated, and that related documentations are maintained.
  • Participates in and assists with facility-related projects, and ensures that the manner in which work is performed is in compliance with corporate and legislated policies, procedures, practices, and guidelines related to environmental, health and safety, fire protection, and any other applicable requirements.
  • Maintains all assigned tools, and arranges for repair and replacement where required.
  • Submits all expenditures on a timely basis, and assists in enhancing tenant and customer satisfaction and maintaining positive relations through the manner in which work is performed and services delivered.

Requirements

  • Must be willing to wear personal protective equipment.
  • High school education.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of facility operations and maintenance work experience.
  • Trade-related training an asset.
  • Ability to adhere to and properly execute processes and practices relating to facility operations and maintenance.
  • Ability to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair non-technical facility components.
  • Ability to provide observations about facility conditions and deficiencies, and provide suggestions for enhancement and repair.
  • Ability to research, learn, and gain greater proficiency in applying on-the-job fire, life, safety, and building codes and standards.
  • Possesses a strong environmental, health, and safety mindset, and ability to perform work in a safe manner.
  • Strong client-service orientation, along with a high sense of urgency.
  • Effective communication skills for the purpose of data relay, exchange, feedback, and clarification.
  • Demonstrates an interest in enrolling and completing a trades certification or license, or beginning to work towards a trades certification or license.
  • Valid drivers' license.
