Job Overview
Laboratory Sample CoordinatorSummary: Assist Laboratory Operations with the management of release and stability studies, sample tracking, logging, and oversight of sample lifecycles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Gather, receive, and categorize samples for Analytical Operations, Microbiology Laboratory, and Project Management Teams.
- Scrutinize all accompanying and referenced documentation to ensure precision and thoroughness.
- Confirm appropriate sample testing by examining supplementary documentation such as protocols, methods, and specifications.
- Update Laboratory Information Systems (LIMS), electronic sample databases, Test Tracker, and other platforms to guarantee timely processing of samples for analytical and microbiological laboratories.
- Prioritize, process, and direct samples to suitable testing and storage facilities (Laboratory Operations, warehouse for Client samples, and retention area).
- Generate Analytical Release Folders or Tracking Sheets for testing purposes.
- Maintain completed test bins and ensure proper disposal of samples.
- Update testing and release dates in the database.
- Provide support to Compliance during the Annual Product Review process.
- Uphold a safe working environment and report potential hazards.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Minimum College Diploma in Sciences or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Experience: Prior experience in a science-related setting.
Equivalency: Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (e.g., Outlook, Excel, Word). Strong interpersonal skills (verbal and written). Ability to manage multiple tasks. Detail-oriented and dependable. Works effectively both independently and within a team. Proficient in the English language.
Standards and Expectations: Adhere to all Environmental Health & Safety Policies and Procedures. Collaborate with team members, demonstrating positive team principles and partnering to achieve project and departmental goals. Execute all duties in strict compliance with quality systems SOPs and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). Maintain a clean and organized workspace. Actively engage in and adhere to departmental systems to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow (visual management, scheduling systems, etc.). Maintain client and patient awareness at all times. Understand Key Performance Indicators and strive to enhance team performance by identifying areas for system improvements and engaging in problem-solving. Exhibit positive thinking and be adaptable to change, motivating the team to adjust to shifts in priorities and new methodologies. Proactively identify areas for enhancement in procedure execution. Communicate risks to timelines proactively. Consistently seek to improve skills and knowledge in the relevant field.
Physical Requirements: Light physical effort and fatigue. May involve walking, sitting, or standing for limited periods. May require occasional operation of equipment including keyboard equipment. Lifts light items for limited durations. Typically situated in a comfortable indoor environment. There may be regular exposure to mild physical discomfort from factors such as dust, fumes, or odors, temperature extremes, loud noise, strong drafts, or bright lights. Use of Personal Protective Equipment may be required and may include any of the following: safety glasses, safety shoes, lab coat, gloves, hair net, beard cover, safety apron, respirator on occasion.
