About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Database Services Manager to join our team at Pet Valu. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for leading our database services team and working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the high security, availability, and performance of our databases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of database administrators to ensure the smooth operation of our databases.
  • Collaborate with IT and business teams to design, develop, and implement database solutions that meet business needs.
  • Develop and maintain enterprise-wide standards and best practices for database development, security, and operation.
  • Provide technical direction and support for database-related projects and initiatives.
  • Ensure databases meet compliance requirements and are properly secured.
  • Design and develop database monitoring and alerting systems to minimize downtime.
  • Participate in IT projects to provide database solutions to project teams.
  • Provide on-call support for database-related issues.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of experience in database administration.
  • 5 years of experience in IT leadership.
  • Bachelor's degree required, master's in computer science or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to lead, direct, and manage team members.
  • Experience building and maintaining production and non-production database environments.
  • Deep knowledge and experience with Azure, GCP.
  • Experience deploying and managing in-house/cloud-hosted database services.
  • Experience with large-scale systems involving reporting, transactional systems, and integration with other enterprise systems.
