Job Overview
Pet Valu is seeking a highly skilled Database Services Manager to lead our database service team and work closely with cross-functional IT and business teams to ensure high security, high availability, and high performance databases. This role involves designing, developing, implementing, and supporting database solutions that empower the business with timely, actionable information.
Key Responsibilities
- Coach, motivate, and guide Database Services team members to achieve high performance and compliance requirements.
- Be accountable for database operations to ensure databases meet security, performance, and availability requirements.
- Collaborate with other IT departments and business partners on database development requests and provide technical directions for problem resolution.
- Design and build Pet Valu database monitoring/alerting to ensure databases are closely monitored to minimize downtime.
- Define and maintain enterprise-wide standards, best practices, policies on database development, security, operation, and availability.
- Involved in different IT projects to provide database solutions to project teams and rotated 24/7 Application on call support.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of database administrator experience.
- 5 years of IT leadership experience.
- Bachelor's degree required, master's in computer science or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to lead, direct, and manage team members.
- Experience building and maintaining production and non-production database environments, including on-prime and cloud-based SQL Server, Oracle databases.
- Deep knowledge and experience with Azure, GCP.
- Experience deploying and managing in-house/cloud-hosted database services.
- Experience with large-scale systems involving reporting, transactional systems, and integration with other enterprise systems.
