Job Title: Database Services Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Database Services Manager to lead our database operations team and ensure the high security, high availability, and high performance of our Pet Valu databases. The successful candidate will have a strong background in database administration, leadership, and strategic planning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the database operations team to ensure databases meet compliance, security, performance, and availability requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional IT and business teams to design, develop, and implement database solutions that empower the business with timely, actionable information.
  • Develop and maintain enterprise-wide standards, best practices, and policies on database development, security, operation, and availability.
  • Provide technical direction and guidance to team members and other IT departments on database development requests.
  • Involved in different IT projects to provide database solutions to project teams.
  • Proactively involved in troubleshooting of database issues and provides technical directions that lead to problem resolution.
  • Rotated 24/7 Application on call support.

Requirements:

  • At least 7 years of database administrator experience.
  • 5 years of IT leadership experience.
  • Bachelor's degree required, master's in computer science or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to lead, direct, and manage team members.
  • Experience building and maintaining production and non-production database environments, including but not limited to on-prime and cloud-based SQL Server, Oracle databases.
  • Deep knowledge and experience with Azure, GCP.
  • Experience deploying and managing in-house/cloud-hosted database services.
  • Experience with large scale systems involving reporting, transactional systems, and integration with other enterprise systems.
  • Have in-depth knowledge of management goals and visions and work in line with team members to achieve them.
  • Working with high performing technology teams.
  • Collaborate with the Business Analysts in requirements gathering, prototyping, and requirements validation.
  • Resolving technical issues through troubleshooting & investigation.
  • Design and develop appropriate processes and procedures to ensure proactive database monitoring.
  • Experience with Retail systems including point-of-sales, warehousing / distribution, and merchandising systems.
