Pipelayers play a crucial role in the assembly, connection, and construction of piping systems for stormwater and sanitation sewers, drains, and water mains. Responsibilities include preparing the ground and excavating trenches for pipe installation. The role also involves aligning pipes and securing joints with cement or adhesive.

Wilco Contractors Northwest Inc. is currently in search of Pipelayers or experienced Water and Sewer Personnel to contribute to our diverse and dynamic workforce. Key responsibilities include:

  • Measuring and configuring pipe routes.
  • Laying pipes to specified grades and ensuring proper tamping.
  • Gathering necessary materials and installation tools.
  • Locating installed piping systems using magnetic or radio indicators.
  • Removing outdated or damaged piping systems.
  • Placing pipes into trenches and utilizing pipe spacers.
  • Verifying pipe alignment and sealing joints with cement glue.
  • Installing auxiliary lines as required.
  • Sealing exposed pipe joints and fittings.
  • Filling and sealing pipe trenches.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience as a Pipelayer.
  • At least one year of experience as a Pipelayer or skilled Labourer in a utility installation environment.
  • Understanding of sewer systems, storm drains, and water mains.
  • Possession of a valid Class 5 driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and city maps.
  • Excellent physical fitness, capable of lifting heavy objects regularly.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to perform tasks with minimal supervision.
