Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Line Technician to join our team at Prema Telecom Inc. As a Line Technician, you will be responsible for installing and maintaining aerial and underground telephone equipment, testing equipment to locate transmission faults, and completing and maintaining test and service reports.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install and Maintain Equipment: Install and maintain aerial and underground telephone equipment, including cable modems and software to enable Internet access.
  • Test and Troubleshoot: Test equipment to locate transmission faults and determine the nature, cause, and location of trouble.
  • Complete Reports: Complete and maintain test and service reports, including determining work assignments and prioritizing tasks.
  • Work at Heights: Climb and work aloft on poles, ladders, or other support structures, and connect, disconnect, and relocate cable outlets.
  • Repair and Replace: Repair or replace faulty cables, power suppliers, and amplifiers, and splice, join, and connect wires.
Requirements
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Experience: 7 months to less than 1 year of experience in a related field.
  • Skills: Ability to distinguish between colors, combination of sitting, standing, and walking, physically demanding, bending, crouching, kneeling, manual dexterity, flexibility, judgment, organized, reliability, client focus, efficient interpersonal skills, excellent oral and written communication, and team player.
  • Certifications: Working at heights training, First Aid Certificate, and basic security clearance.
  • Equipment and Machinery Experience: Coaxial line, fibre optics, single line, copper, aerial and underground cable lines, cable outlets, converters, and splitters.
Work Environment

As a Line Technician, you will work in a fast-paced telecommunications environment, with tight deadlines and a focus on attention to detail. You will be required to work outdoors, at heights, and in confined spaces, and will be expected to travel for extended periods.
