High School Principal Opportunity at Whistler Waldorf School

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced High School Principal to lead our thriving Waldorf school community in Whistler, BC, Canada.

About the Role

The High School Principal will serve as the day-to-day leader of our High School, responsible for upholding the legal, pedagogical requirements for operating a Waldorf school in the province of British Columbia. This includes curriculum planning, delivery, assessment of learning, progress reporting, student safety, and parent relations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Legal and Compliance: Ensure awareness and accountability of legal requirements for operating an independent school in the province of B.C., including education and student safety, and ensure compliance with all regulations.
  • Leadership: Represent the Whistler Waldorf School with the Ministry of Education, the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA), and ensure the appropriate pedagogical policies, procedures, and documentation are maintained.
  • Human Resources: Conduct or oversee faculty performance evaluations, oversee faculty enrichment and improvement plans, and review and assess requirements for hiring and scheduling.
  • Administration: Oversee progress report writing, ensure educational quality through regular educational program review and improvement, and ensure completion of long-term, mid-term, and short-term lesson planning.
Requirements
  • A Canadian citizen and/or eligible to work in Canada with a current Criminal Record Check.
  • Fully certified teacher in BC (or be eligible to apply for a BC license) with a bachelor's degree of their specialty or equivalent post-secondary graduation, diploma, and/or technical certificate.
  • 5+ years of teaching experience and preferred candidates will have 3+ years of educational leadership experience.
  • Familiar with Waldorf school philosophy, including educational principles, techniques, and methods, through practical experience and ideally holds Waldorf teacher training credentials.
