Project Accountant Opportunity

Our Kitchener-based construction client is seeking a skilled Project Accountant to join their team. Reporting to the Controller, this role will involve developing and managing budgets for multiple construction projects, optimizing financial performance. This is a key position that collaborates with various departments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop the scope of work, schedule, estimate, and contracting plan for multiple projects
  • Manage all accounting-related functions for assigned projects, ensuring timely action on vendor and sub-contractor invoices
  • Create and maintain projects in the cost control database
  • Work closely with the accounting team to maintain project costing in the G/L
  • Generate project budget and cash flow reports
  • Prepare monthly project summary reports and provide insights on financial performance to senior management
  • Assist project teams with inquiries or needs
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 3+ years of project accounting experience in the construction or real estate development industry
  • System savvy with MS Office and hands-on experience using Autodesk Construction Cloud or a similar platform
  • Exceptional communication skills, strong attention to detail, and high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial setting
