Transportation Project Coordinator

Position Overview:
This role involves overseeing and executing multi-modal transportation initiatives aimed at enhancing the transportation framework within the city. The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping long-term transportation strategies and policies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the Manager of Transportation Planning to manage and implement projects aligned with the City’s Transportation Master Plan.
  • Conduct comprehensive Corridor Transportation Master Plans and city-wide transportation assessments.
  • Lead the formulation and evaluation of city-wide transportation policies, ensuring thorough research and technical analysis.
  • Devise funding strategies to facilitate the execution of significant transportation projects in collaboration with relevant funding bodies.
  • Analyze best practices in transportation planning from local, national, and international contexts to enhance the city’s transportation system.
  • Represent the department in inter-agency collaborations, public engagements, and presentations.
  • Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and correspondence for senior management and city council regarding transportation planning initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
  • A degree in transportation planning, urban planning, civil engineering, or a related field, complemented by a minimum of five years of relevant experience.
  • Eligibility for membership in the Ontario Professional Planners Institute or as a professional engineer.
  • Proven project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to evolving circumstances.
  • Essential competencies include integrity, effective communication, commitment to continuous improvement, customer service orientation, conflict resolution, project completion, and strategic thinking.
  • Strong understanding of transportation planning principles and analytical techniques.
  • Familiarity with related fields such as land use planning, environmental assessments, traffic management, and transit operations is advantageous.
  • Awareness of provincial, regional, and municipal transportation policies and trends that impact the city.

Compensation:
Competitive hourly rate, with a standard workweek of 35 hours.
