Job Summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a Part-Time Community Support Worker to join our team. As a Community Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and mental health challenges in our Transitional Employment Program (TEP).

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide support and encouragement to individuals in the TEP, empowering them to make meaningful contributions to society and maintain good mental health and emotional well-being.
  • Assist individuals in various employment services, including office cleaning, custodial work, landscaping, painting, and more.
  • Work collaboratively with the Program Supervisor and other team members to ensure the success of the TEP.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Social Work or diploma and equivalent experience.
  • Valid and current Standard First Aid Certificate and CPR Level C Certificate.
  • Ability to achieve Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certificate upon hire.
  • Counselling experience in mental health, developmental challenges, and/or addictions.
  • Training and experience in rehabilitation.
  • Experience in case management and OCAN.
  • Valid Ontario Class "G" Driver's License and personal vehicle.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated documentation skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects concurrently.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of safe operation of machinery and equipment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office and email programs.
  • Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently and remotely in the community.
  • Ability to drive large vehicles.
  • Ability to complete mandatory training and undergo applicable screening and background checks.
