Job Description

Job Summary:

Ontario Tech University is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Sessional Lecturer to teach a course in Communication and/or Digital Media Studies at the undergraduate level. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of delivering innovative and inclusive teaching strategies, with a strong commitment to student success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver a theoretically sophisticated and relevant course at the university level, utilizing a technology-enhanced learning approach.
  • Prepare, deliver, and grade all course material and assignments, and be available for consultation with students.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Stay up-to-date with developments in the field of Communication and/or Digital Media Studies, and incorporate best practices into teaching and course design.
  • Participate in departmental and university-wide initiatives to promote excellence in teaching and learning.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Communication Studies, Media Studies, or a closely related field.
  • Proven experience in teaching or conducting research related to professional communication, organizational communication, or related fields.
  • Strong grounding in both theoretical and practical aspects of professional communication.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Experience with the Learning Management System, Canvas, and other digital tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant teaching, research, and professional experience in Communication and/or Digital Media Studies.
  • Experience in applying communication skills in real-world scenarios, such as negotiations, conflict resolutions, teamwork, and intercultural communication.
