About This Opportunity

Black & McDonald Limited is expanding its Alberta Region team. We are seeking a highly motivated and collaborative professional to contribute to our hard-working and innovative team.

The Sales Representative reports directly to the Sales Leader and is responsible for securing HVAC service, maintenance, and contract agreements. In this role, you will utilize your technical, organizational, and service knowledge to assist new customers in developing the best possible solution while contributing to the revenue growth of the region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create new long-term customer relationships with new customers to successfully understand their needs and specific requirements.
  • Develop new business within the key product offerings, including maintenance contracts, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, sheet metal, DDC, controls, retrofit small jobs, projects, and FMOs.
  • Utilize Black & McDonald's proven sales methods to identify and solicit potential clients within the service department and other divisional departments.
  • Generate and create a backlog of proposals that will provide sufficient work for the team; obtain sales quotas with acceptable margins.
  • Assess customers' needs and resources; recommend appropriate and tailored solutions that include HVAC-related services.
  • Develop reports and proposals; prepare sales contracts and conduct sales presentations.
  • Ensure smooth transition from sales to operations team by following Black & McDonald's processes.
  • Consult with customers periodically to resolve problems and provide ongoing support.
  • Assist with troubleshooting technical problems related to services and/or equipment.
  • Pursue professional development and attend all Black & McDonald required training.
  • Participate in department planning meetings as necessary and attend company-sponsored events, as required.

Education and Work Experience Requirements:

  • A university degree or college diploma in business commerce or related sales/marketing discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience of related outside sales/marketing experience selling non-tangible items, preferably related to HVAC services and equipment.

Skills, Abilities, and Other Requirements:

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Communicates effectively and is innovative in the solving of customer issues or concerns.
  • Professional in all dealings with trades, office staff, and customers.
  • Willing and able to travel to client sites, as required.
  • Computer literacy in Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SalesForce.
