Job Summary

The Sanitation Worker is responsible for ensuring the smooth, safe, and efficient operation of assigned machines and equipment. This role requires the utilization and implementation of standard operating procedures to maintain a clean and safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize chemicals and equipment in accordance with MSDS sheets
  • Use safety equipment appropriate to the work site
  • Follow GMPs to avoid raw/dirty contact with finished product
  • Operate machinery safely, using proper lock-out procedures
  • Work around chemicals in compliance with WorkSafe BC regulations
  • Work in a safe manner, being aware of surroundings
  • Follow established sanitation procedures for each area
  • Communicate concerns or deviations to supervisor in a timely manner
  • Report food safety problems to supervisor
  • Work in a professional manner
  • All employees are responsible for food and safety quality
  • Perform other duties as instructed by supervisor

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Ability to operate mixing equipment safely
  • Strong mathematical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to make judgment decisions based on activities in other departments
  • Knowledge to perform continuous quality checks of product, looking for deviations
  • Required HACCP knowledge for assigned station
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal contacts
  • Product knowledge
  • Ensure quality specifications are being met and proper documentation is filled out accurately
  • Ability to use a pallet jack
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English (reading, writing, and verbal)
  • Good hand/eye coordination
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Able to adapt and work in a continuously changing environment
  • Ability to work efficiently and in an organized manner
  • Ability to focus on the task at hand
  • Ability to work on weekends as required
  • Reliable

Education and/or Experience
