Job Description

Purpose and Scope:

The primary purpose of this position is to ensure the smooth, safe, and efficient operation of assigned machines through the utilization and implementation of standard operating procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize chemicals and equipment while adhering to strict MSDS guidelines.
  • Ensure the use of safety equipment appropriate to the work site.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) to avoid raw/dirty contact with finished products.
  • Operate machinery safely, adhering to proper lock-out procedures.
  • Work with chemicals in compliance with WorkSafe BC regulations.
  • Work in a safe manner, being aware of surroundings.
  • Implement established sanitation procedures for each area.
  • Strive to comply with the vision statement of Hain Celestial.
  • Communicate concerns or deviations to the supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Report food safety problems to the supervisor.
  • Work in a professional manner.
  • All employees are responsible for food and safety quality.
  • All employees are responsible for reporting food safety and quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.
  • Perform other duties as instructed by the supervisor.

Qualifications and Competencies:

Required Competencies:

  • Ability to operate mixing equipment safely.
  • Strong mathematical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to make judgment decisions based on activities in other departments.
  • Knowledge to perform continuous quality checks of product, looking for deviations.
  • Required HACCP knowledge for assigned station.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal contacts.
  • Product knowledge.
  • Ensure quality specifications are met and proper documentation is filled out accurately.
  • Ability to use a pallet jack.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English (reading, writing, and verbal).
  • Good hand/eye coordination.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Able to adapt and work in a continuously changing environment.
  • Ability to work efficiently and in an organized manner.
  • Ability to focus on the task at hand.
  • Ability to work on weekends as required.
  • Reliable.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Completion of Grade 12.
