Position Summary

As a CAD Designer, you will play a crucial role in our engineering team. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Operating 3D CAD systems, specifically CATIA V5 and AutoCAD.
  • Creating and modifying both 2D and 3D CAD files and drawings, including Assembly Cell Drawings, Floor Layouts, Tooling CAD files, and Fixture drawings.
  • Organizing and maintaining CAD files according to established standards, including naming conventions and revision control.
  • Ensuring adherence to CAD standards for drawings, including layering, colors, and templates.
  • Generating detailed summary reports and Bills of Materials based on CAD data.
  • Utilizing stamping formability simulation software such as Autoform, PamStamp, or LS Dyna.
  • Providing occasional support for shop projects.
  • Upholding the Magna Employee's Charter and Corporate Constitution in all interactions.
  • Maintaining confidentiality and promoting Promatek's vision statement.
  • Working safely and efficiently, with a proactive approach.
  • Willingness to work overtime and travel as needed, including potential international travel.
  • Collaborating effectively within a team environment.

Working Environment: This position is set in an industrial and manufacturing context.

Health & Safety Responsibilities:

  • Adhering to safety protocols and plant regulations.
  • Maintaining established quality and housekeeping standards.
  • Complying with Promatek's health and safety policies.
  • Understanding and following the principles of workplace safety and harassment prevention.
Qualifications:
  • Completion of a specialized CAD program from a recognized institution, with a focus on CAD and Solid Modeling.
  • Proficiency in CATIA V5 and AutoCAD.
  • Experience in both surface and solid modeling techniques.
  • Strong skills in MS Office applications.
  • Possession of a valid passport and driver's license.
  • Familiarity with automotive tool and die components and manufacturing processes, including:
    • Sheet metal stamping
    • Hydroforming
    • Aluminum high-pressure die casting
    • Assembly processes
  • Understanding of GD&T and part fixturing concepts.
  • Knowledge of engineering drawing release systems.
