Overview: The Batter Operator is accountable for blending the batter according to product specifications to ensure the highest quality battered items. This role collaborates closely with the Fryer Operator and the ingredient room/forklift operator to guarantee compliance with all necessary standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prioritizes Health and Safety as the foremost objective by adhering to established policies and procedures, and consistently acting in a safe manner.
- Oversees all equipment related to the mixing and application of French Fry batter, working in tandem with the ingredient room/forklift operator.
- Must be prepared to train and acquire knowledge of fryer operator and control room operator duties to provide support when needed.
- Willingness to assist the Fryer Operator during boil-outs is essential.
- Ensures that all ingredients and equipment are free from contaminants and in optimal condition to prevent product contamination.
- Adheres strictly to mixing protocols and monitors batter consistency to guarantee sufficient product coverage.
- Formulates appropriate ingredient combinations for various products.
- Keeps a meticulous inventory of raw materials and ensures proper rotation.
- Documents inventory usage in SAP and maintains all necessary records.
- Maintains cleanliness and organization in the work area.
- Conducts routine product testing and records results in OSI PI for review and action through the MDI process.
Required Qualifications, Skills & Competencies:
- Ability to work rotating shifts.
- Capable of using quality test results to compare against finished product specifications and adjust processes to meet customer requirements.
- Demonstrated history of safe work practices and leads by example.
- Familiarity with process control testing and data entry into the designated McCain database (SAP/OSI PI).
- Knowledge of Statistical Process Control software (OSI PI/SAP) and general production requirements is advantageous.
- Strong written, verbal, mathematical, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Complies with all company policies, regulations, and relevant guidelines.
- Willingness to undergo training in Confined Space & Rescue, Personal Fall Protection, Hoist Training, and Scissor/Boom Lift (minimum height 20').
- Experience in the safe handling of chemicals in accordance with WHMIS standards.
- Mechanical and electrical aptitude is a plus.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to adhere to heat stress policy guidelines.
- Physically capable of performing job duties, including lifting 40 – 50 lbs as needed.
- Able to climb stairs or ladders to inspect equipment and products.
