Job Title: Batter Operator

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Batter Operator to join our team at McCain Foods. As a Batter Operator, you will be responsible for mixing and applying French fry batter to meet product specifications. You will work closely with the ingredient room/forklift operator to ensure all required specifications are met.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
  • Responsible for all of the equipment associated with the mixing and application of French fry batter.
  • Batter operator must be willing to train and learn all fryer operator and control room operator responsibilities in order to back up and cover.
  • Must be willing and able to assist the Fryer Operator on boil-outs.
  • Ensures ingredients and equipment are free of foreign material and are in good condition to prevent contamination of the product.
  • Follows mixing procedures precisely and monitors the consistency of the batter to ensure adequate coverage of the product.
  • Formulates proper ingredient mixtures for different products.
  • Maintains a strict inventory of raw ingredients and ensures proper rotation.
  • Ensures inventory it maintained and usages are documented in SAP.
  • Maintains all required documentation.
  • Maintains good housekeeping in the area.
  • Complete routine product testing and record data in OSI PI for review and action through the MDI process.
Requirements:
  • Able to work shift work on a rotating basis.
  • Able to use the quality test results compared to finished product specifications, and adjust the process accordingly to deliver for the customer.
  • Must have a proven history of safe work habits. Leads by example.
  • Familiarity within process control testing and entering results into the designated McCain database (SAP/OSI PI).
  • Familiarity with Statistical Process Control software (OSI PI/SAP) and general production requirements is an asset.
  • Effective written, oral, mathematical and interpersonal skills.
Physical Requirements:
  • Able to safely follow the heat stress policy guidelines.
  • Physically capable of performing job duties (e.g., lifting 40 – 50 lbs when required).
  • Able to climb stairs or ladders to check equipment and product.
