About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Indigenous Anti-Human Trafficking Development Coordinator to join our team at the Ontario Native Women's Association (ONWA). As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in supporting and advocating for positive change in the lives of Indigenous peoples.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with Indigenous Anti-Human Trafficking Liaisons, Indigenous Mental Health and Addictions Anti-Human Trafficking Liaisons, and communities to identify needs and build individual and organizational capacity to address trafficking in Indigenous communities.
  • Provide targeted service-planning and develop training and information resources to support the development and delivery of programs in Indigenous agencies and communities.
  • Support the capacity building and cultural competency of non-Indigenous agencies seeking to provide culturally appropriate services to Indigenous survivors of Human Trafficking.
  • Develop unique services tailored to meet the needs of Indigenous women and girls.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary diploma/degree in Social Sciences, Indigenous Studies, Women's Studies, or equivalent experience with a minimum five (5) years' work experience in community service delivery in a project coordination role.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and ceremony, with connections to Indigenous communities, and comfort in transmitting knowledge using appropriate protocols to community members and organizations.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experiential knowledge in the area of Human Trafficking and/or sexual exploitation, who are a 'survivor' of human trafficking and/or sexual exploitation, who have completed a minimum of five (5) years of recovery work while living a HT/SE free life.
  • Must be trained in trauma-informed care.
  • Strong awareness of issues affecting Indigenous women and awareness of community resources provincially.
  • Strong communicator - excellent written, oral, and facilitation skills.
  • Knowledge of and relationships with other service agencies, ability to network and create/maintain these relationships.
  • Experience developing training curriculum, coordinating workshops, and/or conferences.
  • Must be dependable, able to follow instructions, respond to management direction, and be able to improve performance through management feedback.
  • Capacity to solve problems and to see different perspectives.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and manage time effectively.
  • Highly motivated individual with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills and an ability to follow through on assigned duties independently with strict deadlines.
  • Knowledge of Not-For-Profit Organizations.
  • Proficient working knowledge of MS Office Software, internet, and general office equipment.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Reliable vehicle, appropriate vehicle insurance coverage, and valid Ontario 'G' class driver's license.
  • Current, valid vulnerable sector criminal records check. Valid 1st Aid/CPR.
  • A cellular phone and internet access are required within this position.
  • Must be willing and able to work a flexible working from home arrangement if required.
  • Ability to speak an Indigenous Language is considered an asset.
