Electrical Hardware Designer Job Description

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Hardware Designer to join our team at Eclipse Automation. As a key member of our Controls Engineering department, you will be responsible for designing and developing common electrical designs for our customers and projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop electrical designs for customers and projects using Eclipse templates and standards.
  • Provide electrical assistance during integration stages.
  • Select, test, and integrate hardware and software components such as robots, analog devices, motion controllers, sensors, vision systems, and lasers.
  • Perform engineering calculations such as short-circuit current rating or panel heat loss/cooling.
  • Work with other members of the Controls Engineering department and other groups to improve design methods, focusing on enhanced safety, functionality, and reduced cost.
  • Collaborate with customers, project managers, designers, toolmakers, and electricians to solve problems and provide a complete, functional automation system.
  • Provide accurate documentation for each project.
  • Advise customers on solving technical problems.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary engineering degree, diploma, or equivalent, specializing in electrical engineering.
  • Experience with EPLAN.
  • 5+ years of automation experience.
  • Knowledge of electrical machinery standards such as NFPA 70/79, CSAZ22.1.
  • Knowledge of safety standards such as EN ISO 13849 or EN 62061.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
