Job Summary

CEDA is seeking a skilled Dredge Operator to join our team at our Fort McMurray, AB location on the CNRL Horizon site. As a Dredge Operator, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining dredges, as well as performing various tasks related to industrial maintenance and environmental services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain dredges, including cleaning, preparation, and maintenance of equipment and components.
  • Participate in daily tool box talk meetings, weekly safety meetings, and safety tours.
  • Required to operate and maintain deposition areas, plant facilities, tank farm location, screen tanks, and manage sump levels.
  • Manipulate valves, Rig In/Out diesel pumps, operation of dredges, and diesel/electric pumps, skid steer, etc.
  • Perform other activities to assist with process and machine operators.
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment and housekeeping in immediate work areas.
  • May be required to assist with minor repairs and maintenance.

Requirements

  • Prior experience with pumps, centrifuge systems, or dredging and dewatering.
  • Valid Class 5 license with a clean abstract.
  • Valid certification (or combination of CSTS-09 and OSSA Regional or BSO).
  • Valid Pleasure Craft operator card is desirable.
  • Marine Emergency Duties (A1 or A3) license is an asset.
  • Small Vessel Operator (SVOP) training is an asset.
  • Able to provide a negative pre-employment alcohol and drug test.
  • Able to work in confined space or at heights with the use of fall restraint equipment is an asset.
  • Comfortable with the use of additional respiratory equipment (N-95 Dust Mask / North Half mask).

Skills

  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Comfortable being on and around open bodies of water.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in harsh weather conditions.
  • Ability to prioritize and initiate innovative solutions.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Uncompromising commitment to health and safety at all times.
