We are currently looking for certified and experienced **Commercial Divers/Equipment Operators **to work in the Calgary and Edmonton, AB region. Commercial Divers/Equipment Operators operate marine equipment such as boats, barges and dredges, and perform underwater construction, maintenance and inspection work in a safe manner. The schedule varies and work will be sporadic, so these positions are on a contract/project basis.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Follow company processes and company Safe Work Policies, Procedures and Practices
- Work within Company, Customer, and other existing standards and regulations pertaining to their scope of work
- Reporting and rectifying of potential hazards, accidents, and near misses
- Perform Field Level Risk Assessments (FLRA) (Nektar)
- Operate marine equipment such as boats, barges, and dredges
- Conduct underwater tasks and duties as instructed by your supervisor
- Other tasks as required by your supervisor
**Qualifications**:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Class 5 driver’s license with acceptable 3 years of driving history
- Marine Emergency Duties (MED) A3 or SDV-BS course completion
- Diver Certification Board of Canada Certificate (DCBC)
- Small Vessel Operator Proficiency (SVOP) are required to operate boats
- Current, physician approved Diver Medical Certification
**Prerequisites**:
- Must be able to pass drug & alcohol test
- Ability to read, write and understand English
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License with 3 years acceptable driving record; Distracted Driving and DUI charges prevent employees to be added to insurance to operate equipment
- 3 years of experience operating marine equipment
- Criminal Record Check
- Completion and passing of pre-employment quiz
**Work Environment**:
- Interactions with other Employees, Client, and Sub-Contractors
- Occasionally exposed to noisy and/or wet environments
- Occasionally exposed to inclement weather conditions
- Potential exposure to rough waters
- Potential lack of visibility under water
- Occasional exposure to physical, chemical, and biological hazards
Physical Demands:
- Able to work long day and/or night shifts up to 12 hours long with irregular break schedule
- Capable of moving over and around obstacles
- Capable of lifting large or heavy loads sometimes up to 20 kg
