Position Overview

IKO is actively looking for a Commercial Product Consultant to collaborate with our dedicated professionals across Canada. This hybrid position offers the flexibility to work remotely as well as from our designated locations. The new Commercial Product Consultant will concentrate on market analysis, ensuring product compliance, enhancing existing offerings, and spearheading new product initiatives. This role emphasizes relationship building, organization, and the execution of product development while engaging with teams nationwide regarding our current product range. This is a chance to leverage your expertise and contribute to our company's growth through the application of best practices and adherence to industry testing standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure compliance of all products with Canadian and US Codes & Standards.
  • Lead testing and evaluations for both new and existing products to align with market trends and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct market research and customer analysis to support new product development initiatives.
  • Oversee new product development activities across Canada, including training sessions.
  • Manage new product applications during field trials.
  • Collaborate with the Commercial Sales Technical Team and other departments such as R&D, marketing, manufacturing, engineering, and logistics.
  • Monitor market trends and competitive landscape to identify new opportunities.
  • Represent IKO at industry events, conducting seminars and training sessions on Building Science topics, while providing on-site assistance for various challenges.

IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • Industry Knowledge: Experience in a related industry is preferred, along with a solid understanding of Canadian Codes & Standards such as FM, ULC, CSA, etc. A willingness to learn and expand product knowledge is essential.
  • Educational Background: A post-secondary degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field is required.
  • Motivation and Flexibility: A strong commitment to market research and exceeding industry standards, alongside the ability to build and maintain relationships. Must be passionate about quality and capable of managing multiple tasks independently. A valid driver's license and willingness to travel across North America is necessary.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are crucial. The candidate should be comfortable presenting and training at industry events. Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint is required.
  • Relationship Management: Strong interpersonal skills for building and nurturing relationships with internal teams and external partners.
  • Additional Assets: Familiarity with Commercial Building Envelope and prior experience in the building materials sector is advantageous.
