Position Overview:

The Inventory Control Specialist plays a crucial role in the effective management of inventory within the warehouse environment. Reporting directly to the Warehouse Manager, this position is tasked with overseeing daily inventory assessments, ensuring accuracy in stock levels, and managing the procurement of packaging materials.

Key Responsibilities:

Daily Inventory Assessments

  1. Conduct regular inventory counts and investigate discrepancies as necessary.
  2. Track and report on inventory variances, documenting any discrepancies and updating records accordingly.
  3. Secure necessary approvals for inventory adjustments and implement changes in the system.
  4. Present inventory accuracy reports during daily operational meetings.

Inventory Management

  1. Oversee and coordinate inventories that require balancing due to changes in product design or materials.
  2. Utilize analytical methods to identify root causes of inventory inaccuracies and implement preventive measures.
  3. Maintain precise records in the inventory management system and report any necessary adjustments.

Pallet and Packaging Management

  1. Ensure optimal levels of pallet and cardboard stock are maintained.
  2. Input all pallet data into the inventory database, ensuring system integrity.
  3. Collaborate with Accounting, Sales, and Customer Service to verify on-hand inventory levels and manage pallet collections.
  4. Review current pallet stock and place orders as needed.
  5. Regularly assess cardboard box inventories and restock Kanban systems as required.
  6. Communicate with suppliers regarding any supply or quality concerns.

Additional Responsibilities

  1. Engage in Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  2. Complete special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

Educational Background: A High School Diploma or equivalent is essential; a college degree is advantageous.

Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing production control within a fast-paced, high-volume setting is required.

  1. Familiarity with pull inventory systems.
  2. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and MRPII systems.

Communication Skills: Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills in English.

Physical Requirements: The role requires spending significant time on the warehouse floor, which may involve exposure to a noisy environment.
