POSITION OVERVIEW
The Building Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in the operation of the facility, which includes overseeing mechanical and other supporting systems. Responsibilities encompass conducting structured inspections, performing preventative and corrective maintenance, and providing routine and on-demand services for facility mechanical equipment and systems. The Building Maintenance Technician is also tasked with ensuring compliance with established processes and regulations, including environmental, health and safety, and fire protection standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Troubleshooting
- Assess and report on the condition of facility mechanical and electrical systems, offering recommendations for improvements and repairs.
Maintenance
- Execute tasks in alignment with established protocols and practices.
- Adhere to all internal and external regulations, including environmental, health and safety, and fire protection.
- Conduct regular inspections and maintenance to ensure operational efficiency and asset integrity.
- Respond to service requests and perform necessary maintenance on mechanical equipment and systems.
- Monitor facility conditions through systematic walkthroughs.
- Operate mechanical and other systems within the facility.
- Manage the work order lifecycle, ensuring quality and compliance with contractual obligations.
- Support the implementation of preventative maintenance programs, documenting deficiencies and maintaining related records.
Client Relations
- Foster tenant and customer satisfaction through professional service delivery.
Administrative Duties
- Participate in facility-related projects as needed.
- Ensure compliance with corporate and legislative policies regarding environmental, health and safety, and fire protection.
- Maintain tools and arrange for necessary repairs or replacements.
- Submit all expense reports promptly.
- Perform other assigned duties as required.
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma with relevant trades training or experience.
- Proven experience in preventive and corrective maintenance of building systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and repair skills for mechanical and other building systems.
- Familiarity with Building Automation Systems (BAS) and HVAC systems.
- Excellent client-service orientation and a sense of urgency.
- Effective communication and mentoring skills.
- Availability for shift work, on-call duties, and emergency response.
- Compliance with Health and Safety policies, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Capability to obtain necessary security clearance.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Certifications:
- Power Engineer Certification or willingness to obtain.
- Building Operator Certification or equivalent from an accredited institution.
