Lead Mechanical Construction Supervisor

Kiewit is a comprehensive, heavy industrial contractor catering to the industrial sector throughout Canada.

We typically handle all primary disciplines in-house, including civil works, structural steel assembly, heavy mechanical equipment setup, process piping, and electrical/instrumentation controls.

Our operations are conducted through various commercial contract formats, including full turnkey, EPC, design-build, time and materials, and traditional discipline packages.

We have consistently advocated for a collaborative approach, partnering with owners, major equipment suppliers, and engineers during the initial phases of project development to facilitate a more cost-effective execution strategy.

This position focuses on our projects in Eastern Canada.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Daily planning of foreman and crew activities.
  • Assisting in the coordination and planning of projects within a specific construction area.
  • Directing discipline craft supervisors on-site.
  • Providing job safety training and awareness for personnel.
  • Establishing budgetary guidelines for the project and ensuring adherence to cost control measures.
  • Setting quality standards for all projects and ensuring compliance with quality assurance and company standards.

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of construction experience, with at least 3 years in a Mechanical Superintendent or leadership role (preferably in infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, dams, and wastewater treatment facilities).
  • Ability to oversee multiple disciplines, including steel, piping, and mechanical.
  • Capacity to quickly learn and comprehend various processes related to Kiewit's policies, procedures, and software applications.
  • Exceptional organizational, administrative, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong background in leadership, safety, negotiations, planning, and contract administration.
  • Fluency in French (both written and verbal) is required.
  • Working knowledge of English (written and verbal) is considered an asset, as mobility between Canadian provinces is necessary.
