Your Role
We are seeking a Senior Engineer specializing in Automation, Communications, and Network Systems to enhance our team across Canada. Reporting to the Supervisor of Electrical & Automation, you will play a pivotal role in our electrical and automation division, collaborating with various stakeholders to conduct feasibility studies and execute detailed engineering projects for both underground and surface mining operations. This is a full-time opportunity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prioritize safety by adhering to all health and safety regulations, contributing to our mission of achieving zero harm.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to plan and execute project tasks, including scoping, asset integrity assessments, and detailed engineering.
  • Provide engineering support to clients, ensuring their needs are met efficiently and effectively.
  • Engage with other departments to facilitate project execution.
  • Review and analyze engineering drawings to identify potential safety and constructability issues.
  • Focus on the design and analysis of automation, communications, and network systems for mining operations, ensuring compliance with relevant codes.
  • Incorporate innovative and cost-effective solutions into designs, optimizing for constructability.
  • Deliver quality reports and calculation packages as part of project documentation.
  • Communicate project updates and challenges to Lead Designers or Project Managers.

Qualifications
Essential Skills and Experience

  • Self-motivated with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances and work independently.
  • In-depth knowledge of design codes and familiarity with Mine Safety and Health Administration regulations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, complemented by excellent interpersonal abilities.
  • Experience leading engineering projects in a consulting environment or as part of an owner's team.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities and project engineering expertise.
  • Ability to mentor junior engineers and lead project teams.
  • Experience conducting inspections and assessments of automation and communication infrastructure.
  • Willingness to travel to client sites as needed.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Professional Engineering license is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in engineering, design, and construction within heavy industry, especially in mining.
  • Technical expertise in:
    • Process Control and Instrumentation Design for Mine Services, including Ore and Waste Handling.
    • Hoisting System Process Control and Interfaces.
    • Ventilation Systems and Ventilation-on-Demand.
    • Process Piping Systems.
    • Instrumentation Design and Selection.
    • Design of Mine Automation and Communication Systems.
    • Network Switch Programming.
    • PLC/HMI Process Control Systems.
    • Wireless Communication Systems.
