Position Overview

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a qualified Social Worker to join our Community Mental Health team. This role involves working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team to provide comprehensive mental health services to children, youth, and families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with clients utilizing the Choice and Partnership Approach (CAPA) to deliver tailored care in an outpatient setting.
  • Conduct individual and family therapy sessions, focusing on evidence-based practices.
  • Participate in group interventions aimed at enhancing mental health outcomes.
  • Provide clinical supervision and mentorship to students and support staff.
  • Collaborate with psychologists, occupational therapists, and psychiatrists to ensure holistic treatment.

Work Schedule

This position requires availability Monday through Friday, with some flexibility for evening hours based on client needs.

Qualifications

  • A Master’s Degree in Social Work is mandatory.
  • Current registration with the Nova Scotia Association of Social Workers is required.
  • A minimum of two years of post-master's clinical experience in child and adolescent mental health is essential.
  • Certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) is preferred.
  • Proven experience in individual and family therapy as well as group interventions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Experience in case management and community engagement is advantageous.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
  • Organizational and time management skills are crucial.
  • Understanding of the child welfare system and mental health disorders is important.
  • A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle are required.
  • Competencies in additional languages are considered an asset.
