Position Overview
The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a qualified Social Worker to join our Community Mental Health team. This role involves working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team to provide comprehensive mental health services to children, youth, and their families.
Role Responsibilities
- Engage with clients utilizing the Choice and Partnership Approach (CAPA) to ensure tailored care for individuals up to 19 years of age.
- Conduct clinical assessments and deliver therapeutic interventions, focusing on both individual and family therapy.
- Facilitate evidence-based group interventions, promoting mental wellness and resilience.
- Provide supervision and mentorship to students and in-home support workers, fostering a learning environment.
- Collaborate with a diverse team of professionals, including Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, and Youth Care Workers, to enhance service delivery.
Work Schedule
This position requires availability Monday through Friday, with potential evening hours based on client needs.
Qualifications
- A Master’s Degree in Social Work is mandatory.
- Current registration with the Nova Scotia Association of Social Workers is required.
- A minimum of two years of post-master's clinical experience in child and adolescent mental health is essential.
- Certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) is preferred.
- Proven experience in individual and family therapy, along with group intervention strategies.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to function effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience in case management and community engagement is vital.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
- Organizational and time management skills are crucial for success in this role.
- Knowledge of the child welfare system and mental health disorders is important.
- A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle are required.
- Competency in additional languages is considered an asset.
