About the Role

We're seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our team at Magpie & Stump, a vibrant and dynamic restaurant in the heart of Banff. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for leading the kitchen and ensuring that our guests receive exceptional dining experiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the kitchen team and ensure that all food preparation and presentation meet our high standards.
  • Work closely with the Executive Chef to maintain kitchen organization, efficiency, and quality control.
  • Coordinate ordering of supplies and manage food and product inventory to meet kitchen needs.
  • Develop and implement kitchen procedures and training programs to ensure that all staff are equipped to provide excellent service.
  • Monitor and maintain food storage and handling procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate standards.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef to develop and implement menu items and specials.
  • Assist with hiring and training of new kitchen staff.
Requirements
  • 2-3 years of culinary experience, with prior experience in a supervisory kitchen role.
  • Food Safety certification and knowledge of best practices for training kitchen staff.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
