About the Position

We are seeking a Corporate Legal Advisor II to enhance our expanding legal team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage insurance defense cases of varying complexities from inception to resolution.
  • Independently prepare and conduct motions, discoveries, mediations, arbitrations, pre-trial conferences, and trials.
  • Draft legal opinions, pleadings, affidavits, and other essential documents to support motion applications and mediation briefs.
  • Organize and deliver legal training seminars for the claims department.
  • Maintain effective communication with the claims department and adjusters.

Qualifications:

  • LLB or JD degree.
  • Active member of the Law Society of Alberta.
  • A minimum of three to five years of experience in insurance litigation.
  • Proficient in drafting legal documents, reviewing extensive materials, and conducting discoveries and trials/arbitrations.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple case files independently.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build effective client relationships.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, complemented by research and negotiation experience.
  • Skilled in alternative dispute resolution, including independent mediation preparation and conduct.
