Position: Power Market Analyst, West

The Power Market Analyst, West position is situated within the Market Analytics division, collaborating closely with the Western trading team (covering regions such as ERCOT, WECC, and AESO). This role focuses on the creation and enhancement of proprietary tools, methodologies, and systems that facilitate decision-making analysis and reporting within Energy Services and Liberty Utilities.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of North American power markets (including ERCOT, CAISO, and AESO) along with experience in financial instruments such as swaps, derivatives, and virtual transactions. Proficiency in advanced analytical techniques and a comprehensive grasp of analytical methodologies are essential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement models to assess risk metrics associated with assets
  • Track industry developments and convey emerging trends
  • Support the trading team by providing essential pricing information
  • Assist in the scheduling and encoding of trades
  • Conduct fundamental-based price simulations
  • Independently generate comprehensive analyses
  • Gather and manage power market data
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree is mandatory
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experience
  • Familiarity with R, Python, and SQL is preferred
  • Experience in energy markets or on a trading floor is advantageous
